So the opening is not the same. Its some weird music that sounds like the opening to Star Trek or something. They have the DUN DUN. That's about all I can say is the same. I just can't take people with British accents seriously in positions of authority, so the "detectives" (of course they are called something else with letters that I don't know what they stand for) are completely un-threatening. The first episode's case was a child is found dead in his ghetto-ass house. The mom wasn't there, and they wanted to arrest her for negligence, but then the eventually figure out that the real problem is the landlord broke the CO2 alarm in an effort to have the people evicted because its cheaper to have the building condemned. In the end the Eliza Dolittle type super goes to jail. Not before she stands trial. This was my favorite part because the lawyers and the judge WORE WIGS!! This is exactly why I can NEVER go to jail in this country: I would most certainly be convicted due to the fact that I would be pointing and laughing at the judge, opposing council, and my court appointed lawyer. OH, and the Adam/dude who ran for President/Jack McCoy character is a JERK. He kept yelling at his DA's (again, called something else)telling them their case was "rubbish".Needless to say, I will NOT be tuning in again, except for when I need a good laugh and will only then turn in during the second half. I will stick with Simon Cowell, Carrie Bradshaw, Dr. Cox. At least I know what I'm getting there!
Side note: Mike and Liz arrive on SUNDAY!!! SOO excited!!!

In defense of Brit-TV I must offer up a few suggestion - The Office (the original and very good) X-Factor..is it still on? Any of The House Hunting shows.. similar to ours on Home and Gardens but they buy them in fun places like the south of France and Greece! And last but not least East Enders.. an on-going soap making fun of the the sad people that live in the east end of London. I must agree - American TV is better! Enjoy the visit with the Fam :)
i cannot believe they screwed up law & order. do they have a CSI? Like CSI: London or something? that would be classic! horatio cain with a brittish accent.
have a LOVELY time with the sibs. are you going to take them to the changing of the guard - rick steves style?
haha yes sue x factor is good! the office is dunzo...i have enjoyed the occassional "location, location, location"
t we are soo doing london rick steves style!!
Since we get stuck with their boring PBS-level crap like Masterpiece Theater, perhaps we can retaliate with something like Unwashed Ameican Masses Theater. Featured programs could be - The Soup, 30 Rock, Burn Notice, Sopranos, and such. Throw in a little Jerry Springer and Judge Judy for daytime viewing and you've got yourself a network!
There used to be good shows like Book Group, Teachers, This Life, Ab Fab... I don't really watch much TeeVee these days so not particularly in the know anymore. Think I heard that Law & Order gets better and the pilot sucked ass. Oh - what's that soap about making a soap? Also all those things with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and ROME in the name. (FYI, ROME was dirty, in ways you'd never get on mainstream TV in the US).
The reason I'm writing though is .... wanna go to court someday? Seriously, you can get passes to sit in the stands and watch the QCs. I did it when at lawschool and was reasonably hilarious.
wow - no good tv. What would I do with my life there? hahaa!
www.hulu.com - that's what i would do =)
