2010 - YOU SUCK

Ok I know that I have to make the year be what it is, but I'm starting to get pissed.

Last Saturday, I had some friends over to christen the new flat. Liz came, I cooked, it was lovely. We tried to get the attention of the boys who live in the flat in the building next to us (who I share a wall with), but couldn't figure out the buzzer system on their door (it was very complex...and it may have been a little late in the night, so probably best we didn't get it). Anyway, successful-ish weekend.

Work this week has gone really well. I've been really busy and had a lovely dinner with one of my top clients. Good times had by all.

WELL, on Monday, I get an email from my letting agency telling me that my landlord called them and asked for my phone number so they gave it to her. Then my phone rings two hours later. My landlord (a 35ish year old woman) says she wants to meet for a coffee or drink, whatever works for me, she needs to talk to me about some things. Nothing about the flat, just some personal issues she has. I tell her Wednesday works, see you at 7.

So now I'm panicking. Is she mad because someone was smoking in front of my flat? Was I too loud on Saturday (I mean, we were pretty lame - everyone was gone by 1 am)? What is HAPPENING??

Wednesday rolls around. I go home, clean up, take out the trash, and wait. She buzzes up at 7. She sits down and says, I need to sell the flat.

FRICK!!!

Basically "situations have changed" since December and she needs to sell the flat. The flat that I love and want to live in for the next however long I'm in London for. She is going to try and sell to a "buy-to-let" person with me as part of the package, so they'll honor my lease, but no guarantees. If she has to, she'll sell to someone who wants to move in and in that case I'll have two months to move and she'll financially compensate me.

Pros: She's hiring a cleaner to come once a week for me. She is replacing my ghetto metal folding table and chairs.

CONS: I now have the impending doom of being kicked out of my flat hanging over my head!

Yes, so basically she's putting the place on the market in March and then we'll see what happens. If anyone wants to buy a lovely one bedroom flat in ladbrook grove to let to me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

ALSO, since its lent, I gave up snacking between meals (except for fruits and veg) and crisps and am therefore now in a constant state of starving. It will be a long 40 days.
