Last weekend I flew home for the weekend. I know, you're thinking, that's crazy!! It was. I thought I was stronger than jet lag and I could overcome, but the trip was just too short and I was in poor form on Monday. That being said, it was great to be home again.
Friday I landed at about 1. Liz picked me up from the airport which was very nice! We hit up Dunkin' Donuts and the grocery store on the way home. Both of these experiences were magical. Dunkin' Donuts obviously was great, and I never thought I would have so much fun in a grocery. Just seeing my own brands and familiar food was great. I think most people thought I was crazy, but really, what's new about that. After that Liz and I got back and hung out since Mom and Dad were on their way home. When my dad walked in I was taken aback a bit (and by that I mean very shocked) as he's lost a ton of weight since I last saw him! He looks great! Then a little bit later my mom got home and, as always, she's looked great. We then rounded up and hit Assante's. If you are ever in the middle of New Jersey and craving good Italian food, you don't have to look too far, but Assante's is a great old reliable. After dinner I lasted til about 10 and then hit my bed.
Saturday was crazy. We had about 50 people come over for my dad's mom's side of the family reunion. First I had to put in face time with my grandma though. So Liz and I took her out to lunch at Jack Cooper's Famous Deli. Its not famous, and its essentially a diner, but its cheap and she loves it, so how can you go wrong? After hearing all kinds of fun stories about my cousins, Liz and I headed back home. First we had to pick up Mike and cake. When we got home the party was in full swing, and it started raining. Two things are always going to happen at family events of mine: my dad's cousin Bob will say something ridiculously inappropriate and hysterical, and it will rain. A lot. Nothing new this year. My dad spent most of the time on the grill, I spent most of the time running food, Mom was entertaining and controlling the kitchen, and Mike and Liz entertained the kids, and occasionally hide in my room. Overall it was fun though. It was good to see everyone and a few people came who had never come before, so that is good. Neha came too! She was actually freaking out a bit about how much me, my aunt, and my cousin looked like each other. Then she said I can never make fun of Indians because our family is just as big as hers.
After the crowds cleared, Mike and I headed to Hoboken. I got to meet his girlfriend who I immediately got along with, especially after we shared our love for Perez Hilton. Mike, his roommate, two friends and Lauren all went out to a few bars in Hoboken. I actually saw a girl I went to Catholic with who I'm facebook friends with but I think I've not spoken to her since a party at 1324 or whatever that house on Michigan Ave was, so I didn't say hi. I had a blast with them all though.
Sunday Mike and I got up, drove back home, had the big breakfast, hit CVS (to stock up on drugs they would never sell here but I've gotten my office addicted too), then I showered, packed, and headed to the airport. It was a whirlwind tour, but great to be home. I'm really looking forward to being home for a longer time soon!

I didn't realize you'd already had your trip home! Glad it worked out. I guess that means the Visa thing worked too.
So great to have you home too! fam is crazy, but yours (and tell Neha that's only about 25% of it...yikes)
The township is still abuzz about your whirlwind visit. More of the same this weekend with Liz-Fest. We're looking forward to seeing you in jolly old London.
