There is a website called the Frisky. They have articles about fashion, relationships, celebrities, etc etc. There is also a column called "Mind of Men". In this column, some dude writes articles about what men really think about. One is called Funny Women Are A Natural Resource, which talked about how funny women are awesome. Another was How To Watch Football, mostly targeted at women who know nothing about sports. Another was Dudes Don’t Gossip. End of Story. You get the idea.
Anyway, there was just one that is called You Are Not “Single”—You Are Ronin. Basically, it's talking about the difference between the way men view being single, and the way women view being single. He points out there there is a difference between being lonely and being single. Women tend to take the "lonely" view when they are not in a relationship, where men take more the "single" view. Even saying single, though, is frowned up. Although it's always had a negative connotation, in the world of online dating and facebook, being single has become more of a label. I highly suggest checking out the article. One of my favorite lines is: “Single” does not mean “Unloved.” “Single” means “I’m making myself a magical pot of pasta and re-watching season three of ‘The Wire.’ What are you bringing to my dope-ass party?”
At the end of the day, he compares single people to Ronin. Not the car movie. Ronin are Japanese samurai who have no master, so they basically they "were free agents of badass". "Roam the world and never feel alone. You are Ronin – you answer to no one. Your heart is your only master." I'm pretty cool with being Ronin!
