4th of July

On the 9th of July I held the second annual 4th of July bbq.  This is a total misnomer because a) it's not on the 4th of july and 2) it's not a bbq.  You can't have bbqs in parks in London, so it's just a bring food type thing.  The weather was (shocker) precarious all day, and so at 1:30 my phone started blowing up with texts and calls asking what the story was with the bbq.  Are we inside or outside.  With Am's guidance, I decided to stick with outside.  We can be under a tree and hope for the best.

After one little showery spell, we ended up getting the best!  It was sunny and lovely and there was tons of food and drink to keep everyone happy.  I even taught a few brits how the throw the old pig skin around:
yYou would have been proud dad.  You probably would not have been as proud when one of the other americans turned up and we shot gunned a strongbow.  I would like point out that I do not ever recall doing this in college.  I have always managed to avoid it.  But I wasn't getting out of this one:
Heather beat me by a few seconds, which I think is pretty good since I don't think I've ever done this before and she's like 3 years younger than me :)

The party continued back at my place when the sun went down and then we ventured to the bar.  Overall, it was a great celebration of America's awesomeness!
