The Parentals Do London

I've been SUCH a bad blogger I know, but its been a really crazy time from the 4th on! Well to start off with, Andy Roddick beat the englishman, so that was good. Hillary and Kevin had a bbq at their house and Hillary and I through the trees could see fireworks. The Americans also sang the Star Spangled Banner, so it was a good day. Then Camille, Verity and I hit an "American" bar called Belushi's where we stole hats from behind the bar, danced, and met some Americans who were studying abroad. I felt old, but it was awesome.

Shortly after that, Momma and Poppa C came to London! It was great to see them! We did dinner on Thursday and Friday night, and then Saturday and Sunday hit the town like good old fashioned American tourists. I took them to all the typical hot spots: St Paul's, rode a double decker, Harrod's (Dad, shocker, stayed back at the hotel for this one), London Eye, the South Bank, Trafalger Square, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly, the British Museum, etc. I think they enjoyed seeing the sights, but at the very least, we got a lot of walking and some QT in.

Saturday night was James' birthday. He turned 30 (SOO OLD! haha sike, just kidding James). So the parental and I met about 30 people out at the Big Easy. Essentially its an American style BBQ place that plays live music and lets everyone wear bibs. Mom and Dad got to meet a lot of my friends, and I think they were impressed! Well from what they could hear - once the band started behind Dad he kind of gave up on talking to people and just listened to Elvis wanna be rock out. The highlight of my evening was when Hillary came over and started making fun of me for being freaked out about hairy babies. Turns out the joke was on her because apparently the fontanel or whatever (the hole in babies heads) PULSATES when they are little! EWWW!!! I was too busy dry heaving over the image of hairy babies but when Hills heard that she just about lost her cookies too. I'm glad to see that even when you're pregnant you can still be disgusted with the thought of your future child. Mom and Dad thought that was pretty funny.

Sunday was a bit of a rough day because after dinner Mom and Dad went home, but I continued on with the party at the Roofgardens. James and Tam had rented out an AWESOME spot where we drank and danced and had an awesome time. Apparently there was one other private party there. Hayden Panettiere. I, of course, did not see her, but when I heard this it made all the boys comments about cheerleaders make a lot more sense.

I was sad to see Mom and Dad go, but excited to have a few weeks of quiet time. Of course I say this and Thursday and Saturday are the only two days this week I don't have plans. I'm clearly very popular.

I gotta tell you that I've never had a better time in London than we did last week. It was great to meet your friends and alert them to some of the weird and wonderful things that await them as parents; ie pulsating skulls. Next time we see them we'll discuss some of the things kids can do to a diaper!
