Snow + London = Epic Fail

Yesterday morning I woke up to snow.  Well, when I went to bed on Friday night it was starting to come down. It snowed until about 1 or 2 pm.  We got about 5 inches I would say in my neighborhood, which means across the Greater London area, there is probably anywhere from 3-8 inches on the ground in different neighborhoods. I checked the Heathrow twitter page (yes, Heathrow airport has a twitter page, and it's surprisingly informative!).  Yesterday they said all flights were cancelled until 4 pm on Saturday.  Today, it says there are only about  flights leaving Heathrow and no arrivals.  They are also saying that things won't be back to normal until Tuesday.  Tuesday is also when the next round of snow is set to hit London again.  BBC says Monday night - Wednesday we'll have light snow.  Weather.co.uk is saying Tuesday-Thursday we'll have snow.  Faaantastic.  Should make my flight on Thursday afternoon interesting....

So London is pretty much like DC, huh? A few inches of snow and everything stops? Whatever would these people do if they lived in Jersey? Clearly they would have to learn!
